Multipitch Atlas

Bernese Oberland

Switzerland

Hintisberg is a band of steep, compact limestone at about 2000 m on the sunny side of the valley between Interlaken and Grindelwald, looking straight across at the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. It holds a concentration of bolted multipitches of four to eight pitches, mostly between 6a and 7a, on walls of pockets, edges and small roofs. A toll road climbs from the valley to the alp, leaving a walk of 30 to 40 minutes. The crag faces south-east and is climbed from late spring to autumn.

Todi

Four pitches of steep, compact limestone opposite the Eiger: a stiff 6a+ warm-up, a short bouldery 7a crux on small edges, a 6b through little roofs on good holds, and a superb, sustained 7a wall of pockets to finish. Short enough to climb without a pack, and the 7a grades are reckoned friendly.
