Safety
The short version
You alone are responsible for your decisions and your safety. If a bolt, a belay, the rock, the weather or your own state does not look right, go down.
- The information may be wrong. Everything here is compiled from third-party sources: published topos, route databases, trip reports and reader reports. It has not been checked on the rock. It may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
- Routes change. Bolts corrode, loosen and get removed. Belays are moved or stripped. Rock falls off. Paths, parking and access agreements change, and seasonal closures come and go. A route described as fully bolted may not be when you get there.
- Grades and ratings are opinions. Grades, lengths, bolt counts, bail ratings, season months and sun estimates are approximations. Map points can be off, sometimes by a long way.
- It is not instruction. Multipitch climbing needs skills this site does not teach: building and checking belays, abseiling, retreat, self-rescue and judging rock and weather. Learn them from qualified people before you need them.
- Check before you go. Use a current local guidebook, ask locally, inspect every piece of fixed gear yourself, and carry what you need to retreat.
