Glarus (Brüggler)

Switzerland

The Brüggler (1777 m) is a broad south-facing limestone slab above the Schwändital, a quiet side valley above Näfels in canton Glarus. Its 200 m wall of water-worn runnels, dotted with pines, holds a set of moderate bolted multipitches in the Plaisir tradition. You park in the valley for a small fee (camping is allowed at the car park) and walk about an hour to the wall. The season runs from late spring, once the approach is clear of snow, into autumn.

Highway

Seven homogeneous pitches of grade 5 up the middle of the Brüggler's big limestone slab, much of it on water runnels, finishing among the pines near the summit cross. Never hard, but it climbs all the way and the bolts are not close. Best if you are solid at 5c.
