Rätikon (Montafon)

Austria

The Rätikon forms the border between Vorarlberg and Switzerland. On the Austrian side the Lindauer Hütte, at the head of the Gauertal above Tschagguns in the Montafon, is the base for the limestone walls of the Drusenfluh, the Drei Türme and the Sulzfluh. Most routes here are serious, but a few recent lines are bolted throughout with stainless steel. The hut is 2.5 hours on foot from Latschau, and the high north-east faces are in condition from about June to September.

Sorgafresser

Seven long pitches of varied climbing on mostly very good Rätikon limestone above the Lindauer Hütte, UIAA 7 with 7- obligatory. The last two pitches are very athletic and exposed. Well bolted, but the setting is high and remote.
