Ammergauer Alpen

Germany

The Ammergau Alps lie between Füssen and Oberammergau on the northern edge of the Bavarian Alps. The limestone crags around the Kenzenhütte, above Halblech, hold a small number of bolted alpine routes in a quiet setting. You reach the hut by shuttle bus or mountain bike from the Halblech car park, and the climbs are an hour or so beyond it. The season runs from about May to October.

Wadlziaga

A short, easy alpine route of UIAA 4+ on the Schlössel above the Kenzenhütte: a water runnel, a corner and slabs, then a compact pillar to finish. Bolted where it matters but not closely. Pitch 3 has some unreliable rock and grass.
